The               2011               U.S.

News               college               rankings               were               finally               released.

The               2011               U.S.

News               college               rankings               also               have               some               familiar               college               rankings               near               the               top               of               the               list,               and               it               should               probably               come               as               no               surprise               that               the               battle               is               between               Harvard,               Princeton,               and               Yale               once               again.

Leading               the               way               on               the               2011               U.S.

News               college               rankings               is               Harvard               University,               which               received               a               perfect               score               of               100               when               it               came               to               putting               the               list               together.

They               are               the               only               school               to               receive               a               perfect               score,               putting               them               at               the               top               of               the               overall               list.

To               put               that               score               in               perspective,               there               were               only               11               other               schools               on               the               list               that               even               had               a               score               of               90               or               better,               so               it               shows               how               difficult               it               is               to               receive               a               perfect               score               of               100               out               of               100               from               the               U.S.

News               and               World               Report.

Coming               in               second               on               the               2011               U.S.

News               college               rankings               list               was               Princeton               University,               taking               home               a               score               of               99               out               of               100,               and               they               are               followed               by               Yale               University               at               No.

3               with               a               score               of               98.

None               of               the               top               three               universities               is               very               inexpensive               when               it               comes               to               tuition               prices,               and               according               to               the               U.S.

News               and               World               Report,               all               three               of               them               have               tuition               and               fees               that               surpass               $36,000               for               the               2010-11               school               year.

They               also               have               a               very               low               acceptance               rate,               with               Harvard               at               7%,               Princeton               at               10%,               and               Yale               at               just               8%.

The               highest               percentage               of               acceptance               among               the               school               ranked               in               the               top               25               was               No.

23               ranked               Carnegie               Mellon               University,               which               accepts               36%               of               those               that               apply               to               attend.

Their               tuition               is               much               more               expensive               though,               reportedly               reaching               almost               $42,000               for               the               2010-11               school               year.
               According               to               US               News,               there               is               an               extensive               process               that               goes               into               ranking               all               of               the               colleges               around               the               country.

Included               in               that               is               retention               of               professors,               graduation               rates,               and               the               strength               of               the               faculty.

They               also               work               to               take               into               account               the               location,               campus               life,               academic               offerings,               activities,               the               cost,               and               of               course               the               availability               of               financial               aid               to               students.

It               is               a               very               in-depth               look               that               takes               into               account               more               than               just               the               prestige               of               a               school,               and               these               rankings               go               a               long               way               towards               presenting               an               unbiased               look               at               all               the               schools               in               one               list.

There               are               of               course               those               that               find               holes               in               these               rankings,               but               the               U.S.

News               college               rankings               are               often               considered               the               gold               standard,               and               everyone               looks               to               them               whether               they               approve               of               the               ranking               system               or               not.

    A               previous               article               talked               about               the               six               highest               ranking               universities               and               colleges               from               across               America.

    This               current               article               wishes               to               continue               this               hopefully               interesting               topic               and               bring               you               face               to               face               with               some               other               impressive               college               names,               fees               and               tuitions,1               and               acceptance               rates.

    Some               of               you               might               end               up               studying               in               one               of               these               places,               so               it               never               hurts               to               be               prepared.

    Massachusetts               Institute               of               Technology               or               MIT,               as               most               of               you               know               it,               also               ranks               high,               featuring               an               acceptance               rate               of               11               percent               and               a               tuition               of               $39,212.

    As               you               can               see,               tuitions               are               not               necessarily               strictly               related               to               the               actual               ranking               of               a               school;               there               are               schools               such               as               Yale,               Princeton               or               Harvard               that               have               lower               fees               and               tuitions               as               compared               to               MIT.

    So               the               actual               costs               of               a               school               do               not               necessarily               reflect               its               true               value,               but               rather               the               location               of               the               school,               its               number               of               students               and               its               necessities               in               covering               administrative               and               school               faculty               expenses.

    Nevertheless,               this               institute               is               absolutely               amazing,               as               there               seems               to               always               be               something               going               on               here               in               terms               of               new               technologies               being               invented               or               tested.

    If               you               do               not               plan               on               actually               going               there               on               your               own               and               taking               a               tour,               you               will               be               missing               out               on               a               lot               of               things.
                   California               Institute               of               Technology               has               a               pretty               impressive               fall               acceptance               rate               of               15               percent               and               fees               that               rise               up               to               $36,282.

    If               these               numbers               do               not               really               share               anything               interesting               with               you,               how               about               learning               that               CalTech               scientists               have               managed               to               show               a               link               between               attention               and               self-control,               or               that               the               engineers               there               have               created               a               one-way               transmission               system               for               sound               waves?

    I               bet               you               would               really               like               to               get               in               and               be               a               part               of               all               of               these               amazing               discoveries,               especially               if               you               love               science               and               technology.
                   The               University               of               Chicago               seems               to               be               more               reasonable               when               it               comes               to               its               acceptance               rate               in               the               fall;               in               2009,               this               rate               was               27               percent.

    As               for               the               tuition,               you               should               be               preparing               around               $41,091               if               you               plan               on               getting               in.

    The               university               is               going               to               host               the               11th               World               Conference               on               Emerging               Technology               and               Services,               which               is               an               international               forum               that               is               being               coordinated               by               the               Emerging               Information               and               Technology               Conference.

    Other               similar               activities               are               going               on               around               the               campus               all               year               round,               so               you               should               definitely               check               out               their               amazing               academic               offers.
                   Duke               University               ranks               really               close               to               Chicago               University;               it               has               an               acceptance               rate               of               19               percent               and               a               tuition               of               up               to               $40,472.

    Duke               offers               students               a               wide               array               of               choices               with               schools               such               as               the               Trinity               College               of               Arts               and               Sciences,               Divinity               School,               the               School               of               Law,               the               School               of               Medicine               or               Nursing               and               many               more.
                   Northwestern               University               is               another               proud               member               of               the               "clan"               on               the               highest               ranking               universities               in               America;               it               features               a               fall               acceptance               rate               of               27               percent               and               tuition               and               fees               of               up               to               $40,247.

    Weinberg               College               of               Arts               and               Science,               the               School               of               Continuing               Studies,               Medill               School               of               Journalism               and               Henry               and               Leigh               Bienen               School               of               Music               are               just               some               of               the               schools               and               colleges               the               university               displays.

                   The               smaller               neighborhoods               found               in               both               the               east               and               west               ends               of               the               city               of               San               Diego               present               the               most               suburban               areas               of               the               city.

    Larger               green               spaces,               low               crime               rates               in               most               neighborhoods,               and               a               family               style               atmosphere               is               present.

    Eastern               communities               include:               Allied               Gardens,               Birdland,               Del               Cerro,               Grantville,               Kearny               Mesa,               Lake               Murray,               Mission               Valley               East,               San               Carlos,               Serra               Mesa,               and               Tierrasanta.

    Western               communities               include:               Buringame,               Hillcrest,               La               Playa,               Linda               Vista,               Loma               Portal,               Midway               District,               Mission               Hills,               Mission               Valley               West,               Morena,               North               Park,               Ocean               Beach,               Old               Town,               Point               Loma               Heights,               Roseville-Fleetridge,               Sunset               Cliffs,               University               Heights               and               wooded               area.
                   Eastern               San               Diego               Neighborhoods
                   The               eastern               section               of               San               Diego               is               a               middle-upper               class               white               collar               neighborhood.

    San               Carlos,               Del               Cerro,               Allied               Gardens,               Grantville,               and               the               college               area               make               up               this               community.

    Allied               Gardens               Recreation               Center               is               the               hub               of               fitness               activity,               and               is               located               on               Greenbrier               Avenue.

    Many               little               league               fields,               a               walking               path,               and               spacious               playgrounds               fill               the               center,               and               are               widely               enjoyed               by               the               health               conscious               and               family               oriented               residents.

    The               eastern               area               is               served               by               the               following               schools:               Foster               Elementary               School,               Marvin               Elementary               School,               and               Lewis               Middle               and               Patrick               Henry               High               School.

    Mission               Valley               East               is               the               largest               community               in               this               section               of               town,               and               is               located               near               the               Pacific               Ocean               in               an               affluent               and               low               crime               area.

    Many               shopping               and               entertainment               centers               are               located               in               the               area,               providing               walking               distance               venues               for               the               residents               to               enjoy.
                   Western               San               Diego               Neighborhoods
                   The               communities               of               Hillcrest,               and               portions               of               Balboa               Park               are               the               primary               communities               in               the               free               thinking,               diverse,               and               tolerant               section               of               San               Diego.

    The               many               businesses               located               in               the               area               range               from               thrift               stores,               to               trendy               high               fashion               designers.

    Outdoor               cafes,               casual               and               high               dining               style               restaurants,               unique               and               independently               owned               small               specialty               stores,               night               club,               lounges,               and               gay               bars               are               all               crowded               into               the               center               of               activity               in               the               western               neighborhoods.

    A               large               population               of               gay               and               lesbian               residents               live               in               the               bustling               communities.

    San               Diego's               Gay               Pride               Celebration               and               parade               are               among               the               many               festivals               which               take               place               in               the               west               end               of               San               Diego.

    "CityFest"               is               a               street               fair               which               occurs               annually,               providing               food,               street               vendors,               live               music,               book               fair,               and               a               beer               garden.
